Cabinet: Ebonized rosewood, plain body with single molding. Has carved cabriole legs and pedal lyre and original finish is almost perfect. Has fretwork music rack. Dimensions: 80 ½ " wide, 39 ½ " in depth, and 38" to the top of the case Action: Typical single escapement square action with overhead dampers/levers, with extra felts. Top octave has agraffes for the strings. Full cast plate, two pedals. To be restored: Very good original finish, interior to be restored, two strings per note scale except in bass. A fine restorable piano of this era. Over-strung bass on two bass bridges. Left pedal is a moderator or buff pedal extending felt fingers between the hammers and strings for a much softer and more muffled tonal effect.
