Steinway & Sons Square Piano

Date: Ca. 1867

Serial #:  15736

Keyboard compass: 88 notes 7 1/3 octaves

Key covering: Original ivory in repairable condition; ebony sharps.

Cabinet: Rosewood with single bottom molding and wide top molding.  Steinway cut out music rack and carved cabriole legs and pedal lyre.  To be refinished.

Dimensions: 81" x 40" ,   37 ½ " from top of case to floor.

Action:  Typical late American square piano action and dampers.  Agraffes in treble section and has over strung scale with two bass bridges and a heavy full cast iron plate.

A very graceful looking instrument for its size.  I am only the fourth owner of this piano since it was new.  Its original home was in Logan County, KY.  A very fine piano by the most reputable builder.
