Cabinet: Rosewood with ebonized finish; has double molding around bottom of case with scallop design; carved cabriole legs and open carved music rack; original finish can be preserved. Dimension: 81 ½" x 40" ; 38 ½" from top of case to floor. Action: Typical late American square piano action; to be completely rebuilt and regulated. Overhead dampers on levers in a rack. Left pedal is a moderator, or buff, pedal for soft; right is damper. This is the "Orchestral" model, which in both technical design and tone was the finest square piano ever designed or built! This is the ultimate in a square piano; the scaling of the strings is a radical departure from all others and the tone throughout the scale approaches that of a modern 7' grand piano. Strings are on three levels; bass, tenor, and treble bridges; tri-strung in treble section with a capo bar cast into the plate. If the old look is desired, combined with a modern quality sound, then this is the only square piano to own! |
