American Musical Instrument Society founded in 1971

The American Musical Instrument Society is an international organization founded in 1971 to promote better understanding of all aspects of the history, design, construction, restoration, and usage of musical instruments in all cultures and from all periods.

The membership of AMIS includes collectors, historians, curators, performers, instrument makers, restorers, dealers, conservators, teachers, students, and many institutional members. All individual members have full voting rights and, with the exception of spouse members, receive the Society's publications.

The Southeastern Historical Keyboard Society, founded in 1980, is a non-profit, regional organization committed to the promotion of interest in and the study of early keyboard instruments, principally harpsichord, clavichord, fortepiano, and organ prior to 1860, and the music intended for these instruments. SEHKS provides a forum for all aspects of early keyboard music through its meetings and publications. Membership is open to all interested persons and institutions worldwide.

The Reed Organ Society was founded in 1981. The Society is an international, non-profit organization devoted to the appreciation, study, collection, restoration and preservation of reed organs.

Membership is open to anyone who is genuinely interested in reed organs. If you enjoy these organs and want to learn more about them, there is a place for you in the ROS.

The National Music Museum was founded in 1973 on the campus of The University of South Dakota, the National Music Museum & Center for Study of the History of Musical Instruments is one of the great institutions of its kind in the world. Its renowned collections, which include more than 10,000 American, European, and non-Western instruments from virtually all cultures and historical periods, are the most inclusive anywhere.
